MULADHARA OR ROOT CHAKRA
Muladhara, base, or root Chakra. India is very earthy so it wasn't hard to find images relevant to the element associated with this Chakra. However, finding the right tree with some interesting roots was more challenging.
Extensive online research was not that fruitful and it wasn't until I went to Varanasi on my third short trip to India that I found what I was looking for. The Ganges foreshore is interesting, but whilst venturing up the many steps that take you away from the river, I came across a sadhu cross legged below a stunning tree growing out of a wall with all its roots exposed. This image can be seen in the India Collection.
The overlays were also complex for this composite and it took some time to integrate its various aspects and layering in a credible way. Other components include an arid Thar desert landscape, an arch from Orchha Palace and another huge tree I found outside Ramana Maharshi's Ashram in Tiruvannamalai.
