JODHPUR OLD BICYCLE

from A$200.00

Wandering the backstreets of the aptly named Blue City of Jodhpur in Rajasthan back in 1993 was a dream. It was authentic, colourful and unspoilt old India and I vowed to return to do it photographic justice with more time. I kept that dream alive for all the years until my last visit in 2011 (when this photo was taken). On that first trip I didn’t really have the chance to make the most of it with the very tight schedule I had.

However, on my arrival there in 2011, I was very disappointed with the inevitable changes and modernisation that had happened in those 18 years I had to wait. That was until I came across this old bicycle. It took me right back to the old days when there were no motorbikes with shrieking horns racing up and down the narrow old streets when I could quietly and leisurely explore with my old Nikon film camera loaded with Velvia film.

The beautiful pastel blues of this scene compliment the browns of the windows, door and paint splattered rusted bicycle, all of which come up beautifully on a fine art print. For anyone who has been to Jodhpur this will make a great and memory jerking gift in any size.
