Lifeforce

I created a series of graphic black and white images of cacti and succulents for my exhibition Lifeforce. That name was used because these plants often have very prolific growth, the agaves in particular send out a central flower stem several metres high that can dwarf the rest of the plant. They also have very strong masculine and feminine aspects (part smooth and part spikes) and their extraordinary growth is perhaps a result of this powerful polarity. The series is essentially about the dance of the masculine and feminine in nature. Large prints of these images work well in modern house or office and are particularly effective in groups.
